Course description

Basic Life Support (BLS) is a foundational course for healthcare professionals to respond in a team environment and teaches the theoretical and hands-on skills needed to respond to medical emergencies.

This program is available in two formats: a blended program (Online knowledge & practical in class) or instructor-led training (both knowledge & skills practice in class).

 

BLS Blended (online + in-class)

A Blended course is divided into two parts:

  1. Online Portion: This self-paced learning portion usually takes about 2 hours.
  2. In-class Portion: This practical skill portion is an instructor-led training session that takes 1 to 2 hours, depending on the demonstration of your skills. 

Instructor-led (in-class)

  • Full Certification: About 4 hours
  • Recertification: About 1.5 hours

  2. Primary Assessment
  3. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated external Defibrillator (AED
  4. Multi-rescuer team CPR
  5. Airway Obstruction
  6. Assisted Ventilation
  7. Opioid-associated life-threatening emergencies
  8. Special considerations for CPR & AED

The skills you learn in BLS will enable you to:

  1. Assessing the scene & taking safety precautions
  2. Recognizing a cardiac arrest.
  3. Activating the emergency response team
  4. Perform high-quality single-rescuer CPR and multi-rescuer team CPR.
  5. Assisting in Airway Obstruction
